The lock is ticking. I don't know when it started, it has been ticking for as long as I can remember. I used to tell my parents and they'd joke about a monster in the closet where the lock was. They never believed me until the ticking stopped. I never slept as peacefully since. I woke up to find my closet open. We never opened the closet, we assumed the lock was broken or the key was long gone. The next thing I noticed was the noise... or lack there of. My parents were always up before me, doing work or other things. I started to head downstairs for breakfast, but as I passed my parents' room I saw red.... everywhere... I don't know who called the cops or when they came, but the next thing I remember was an officer pulling me away from the mutilated corpses. For years I was afraid to have a closet, and sometimes it's even locks that scare me. I still don't have a closet in my room, but I moved recently and the master bedroom has a closet. I ended up giving it to my daughter and my wife and I took another room. I didn't think I would tell this story but my daughter started complaining that her closet lock is ticking.
